YORK City striker Craig Farrell says Friday's Conference play-off semi-final first-leg clash with Morecambe will be one of the biggest games he has played during his career.

The ten-goal hitman has turned out for Carlisle in an LDV Vans Trophy Final at the Millennium Stadium, but believes the two Morecambe matches - the first of which kicks-off at KitKat Crescent - can top that.

The 24-year-old was elated after City beat Oxford 1-0 to make the play-offs and has urged the Minstermen to be "ready and focussed" for the "battle" that is coming ahead, the winners of which will meet either Exeter or Oxford United at Wembley on May 20.

"There are three games to go and they are massive games. We've played Morecambe quite a few times and have had good and bad results against them this season," Farrell said.

"We have got to be ready and focussed for the battle. They should be good games.

"This (Friday night) is one of the biggest games I will have played in and I have played at the Millennium Stadium. These are massive games for the club and if we can get back into the league it will be fantastic for the team and fantastic for the city.

"This is the biggest game the club has had since 1994. We have just got to play our natural game against a very good side. I will definitely be looking to score a goal or two."

Farrell also praised the KitKat Crescent faithful, revealing the constant backing of 4,500 City supporters in a season-high attendance of 5,378 had been a real spur for the players on the pitch.

He is now hoping an even bigger crowd turn out against Morecambe to roar the Minstermen on to victory.

Added Farrell: "The crowd were fantastic. They helped us all focus especially when we felt tired in the last five to ten minutes.

"They really were the 12th man and hopefully it will be another big crowd on Friday."

The first leg will not be all-ticket but the club are urging fans to buy tickets ahead of the game. If all the tickets are sold before the game there will be no pay-on-the-day admission.

Meanwhile, City have been allocated 1,200 tickets for the trip to Christie Park in the second-leg on Monday, May 7.

Tickets have been on sale to season ticket holders since the weekend but any remaining will go on general sale at the club's ticket office today.

Seats are priced at £13 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for Under-16s. Standing will cost £12 for adults, £9 for concessions and £4 for U16s.

Tickets can only be bought by using cash or cheques - payment by credit and debit cards cannot be taken.
