YORK City have signed defender Ben Clappison from Hull City.
The 21-year-old has become the Minstermen’s eighth summer signing, and fourth in as many days, after penning a two-year contract at Bootham Crescent.
He follows Jack Higgins, Richard Brodie, Nick Kennedy, Tyler Walton, Alex Whittle, Shaun Rooney and Ben Barber, who have all agreed deals ahead of the 2016/17 season in the National League.
Clappison had previously spent his entire youth career with Hull City - signing for his home-town club at the age of eight before graduating through to the Tigers’ under-21s and taking over the captain’s armband following Matty Dixon’s arrival at York City in January.
The centre-half, who can also operate at right-back or in a defensive midfield role, enjoyed loan spells away from the KC Stadium with then National League North side Histon in 2014 and National League outfit Halifax Town last season.
