YORK City have signed centre-back Jonny Burn on loan from League One side Bristol Rovers.
Burn started his career in Sunderland's Academy before turning professional with north-east neighbours Middlesbrough.
During his three year stay at the Riverside Stadium, Burn gained first team experience playing on loan for both Oldham Athletic and Kilmarnock.
The 22-year-old signed for Bristol Rovers in January and has played four times for the Pirates this season.
Minstermen boss Martin Gray said: "He's a centre-half who I first watched when he was captaining Middlesbrough's Under-23s. He's a leader, he is very aggressive, but he can also play as well.
"Our centre-halves have done well but, if one got injured or suspended, I didn't really feel there was any back-up.
"It's only healthy for competition to have an extra body in there. Hopefully, it will benefit all of us."
Burn's initial deal with the Minstermen expires on January 6, and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday's National North game at Boston United.
