YORK City have signed Harrogate Town midfielder Liam Agnew on a one-month loan deal.
The Sunderland-born, 23-year-old has spent the last four weeks on loan at Boston United, where he featured in the Lincolnshire outfit’s 2-0 home victory over the Minstermen earlier this month.
Boston had wanted to extend Agnew’s loan period, but City chief Sam Collins has swooped for his services and he will be available to feature in today’s National League North clash at Darlington.
Agnew made one appearance as a substitute for first club Sunderland in a 3-1 FA Cup victory over Fulham at the age of 19, having signed a two-year professional contract for the Black Cats.
But, by that time, he had already been loaned out for a first of three separate spells at Boston and he rejoined the Pilgrims following his release from the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2016 having also been on trial at Bradford City.
A switch to Harrogate Town followed in January 2017, where he has largely been in and out of the side, making 13 outings during last season’s National League North play-off final winning campaign.
