SCUNTHORPE United striker Daniel McBreen is still being targeted by York City.
Minstermen boss Billy McEwan confirmed this week that he had not ruled out bringing the Australian striker back to KitKat Crescent for a second loan spell.
The 30-year-old forward returned to Glanford Park after scoring his second goal in five games for City at Farsley Celtic two weeks ago.
But he has not featured in the Iron's first team since and, although he scored for the reserves this week, the arrival of Leeds forward Tomi Ameobi on loan could lead to him falling down the pecking order for starting places again at the Championship club.
Even though McEwan is looking to trim his squad, he would still be interested in a return for McBreen.
He said: "I'd like to think he might come back.
"I haven't spoken to him or contacted Scunthorpe as he only went back a fortnight ago, but we are keeping tabs on his situation. If nothing happens there, we are still looking down the avenue of bringing in another striker."
Elsewhere, released City midfielder Alex Meechan has joined mid-table Blue Square North outfit Stalybridge Celtic.
