APPLICATIONS have opened for a homecoming event for Team GB's Olympic and Paralympic heroes, which includes several York stars.
Boccia athlete Beth Moulam, swimmer James Wilby, shot putter Scott Lincoln and triathlete Jessica Learmonth, all from York, are among those involved in the ceremony at Leeds' First Direct on October 10 (3-5pm).
Reigning Olympic champion Jonny Brownlee and gold medalist Jack Laugher are among the other stars who will take to the stage and discuss their exploits in Toyko, where Tema GB won 65 medals.
City of York Council are giving away 200 free tickets for the event, wich applicants able to apply for two tickets.
The tickets will be allocated to York residents including community sports organisations and sports club volunteers, care leavers, looked after children and foster carers.
Applicants are asked to state their personal or family's involvement sport in the city.

Tickets are also available to the public for £5, plus a booking fee, which includes a donation to charity SportsAid.
The event will also feature live entertainment including headline act, The Skylights, from York.
