TALENTED North Yorkshire golfer Dan Brown has rounded off his best-ever season by securing a spot on the European Challenge Tour.
The 26-year-old finished his campaign by tying for second place in the final PGA EuroPro Tour event at Slaley Hall in Hexham, where he was just one shot away from winning, shooting rounds of 68, 71 and 70.
But his overall performance this year means that he has won the coveted European place - which to golf is what the EFL Championship is to football, Brown said - and underlined his reputation as one of the most exciting young prospects in the professional game.
Brown said: “This has been a wonderful season for me, the most consistent and the best of my career. The pressure was on at Slaley Hall, with a lot at stake.
“One of the key reasons for my success has been the support and sponsorship of the Northallerton-based CTS UK, the flourishing business supply chain specialists. In all honesty, CTS’s sponsorship has been a game-changer, allowing me to concentrate on my game without worrying about anything else.
“CTS’s generous support, together with that of WS Transportation, has had immense benefits on my mental health and wellbeing, enabling me to enjoy my golf without any distractions. I can now concentrate 100 per cent on every hole in every round I play, which has paid dividends.
“I can’t thank CTS and their chairman, and my friend, AJ Swinbank enough. I look forward to repaying their faith and trust in me next year, when I will be helping to promote the company across Europe and further afield.”
Brown has already had a distinguished amateur career, representing his country at every level and winning the English Amateur Championship at Ganton in 2016.
The highlights of the Slaley Hall tournament will be on Sky Sports next week.
Brown will be on hand to offer golf tips at CTS UK’s Open Day at Unit 5, Mile House Business Park, Darlington Road, Northallerton on Thursday November 4, starting at 11.30am.
