FORMER York City boss Chris Brass has been handed temporary charge of Bury.
The Gigg Lane-based club said Brass, currently youth team manager, would be taking charge of all team affairs "for the immediate future as caretaker manager"
following the departure of Chris Casper and Keith Alexander on Monday.
Brass, 32, has also been managing Bury's centre of excellence, and began his time in charge with last night's FA Cup third round replay against Norwich. The Shakers are floundering in 19th in League Two.
Brass was appointed York City manager in 2003 following the departure of Terry Dolan - becoming the youngest manager in the Football League at just 27. He started with four straight victories but City ended the season being relegated - bringing to an end 75 years of league football in the city.
With the team continuing to struggle in the Conference the following season, Brass was sacked in November 2004, although he remained nominally on the club's books as a player until January 2006 and subsequently signed for Bury.
Brass was in charge of the Bury youth team which lost to York in the second round of the FA Youth Cup in November.
Although in the coaching sphere at Bury, Brass had also been turning out for Hyde United.
