NEW Earswick Indoor Bowls Club were unable to hold onto their sizeable lead as they lost 83-63 to Selby in the Denny Plate, writes Terry Shepherdson.
First up, Andy Humphreys, Brian Harton, Dick Osguthorpe and Adam Trinder led 13-7 after 12 ends but then only scored one more single at the next six ends to go 13-17 behind and lose 19-17 defeat.
Similarly, Alan Shearer, Paul Murray, John Harrison and Colin Pickup move into a 9-3 lead but soon found themselves 9-10 behind.
New Earswick rallied though to win four of the last five ends for a 15-13 victory.
Dave Sykes, Steve Hudson, Andrew Fothergill and Rob Domville came back from 9-0 down to level at 9-9.
In the end though, New Earswick could not complete the comeback and went down 27-16.
Selby won the final section 24-15 against Dave Furness, Bob Elliot, Bill Waldie and Gary Jones, who held a 15-9 advantage before losing the last nine ends.
