CHRIS OVENDEN was the big winner at the See York Run York Gunpowder Plot 10k at the weekend.
The runner from Skipton came home first after two laps around York Knavesmire in a time of 35 minutes and nine seconds.
Around 200 runners in all took part in the 10-kilometre challenge on Sunday, November 7.
The course is a mix of trail and road, on a fairly flat course overall. Guy Fawkes was on hand on behalf of York Dungeon to entertain the runners before the race began, and to pose for pictures.
The runners engaged with the event, giving valuable support to one another, which made all the difference for some participants.
Following on from Ovenden, visiting from Skipton, was Alex Aldridge (second, in 36.17).
First female was Abigail Branston (43.41), with Patti Cranton the second-placed female (45.23).
Observers praised the hard work of the See York Run York team and their marshals in putting on a successful event.
The next See York Run York event is the Yuletide Trail Challenge on December 4. Those interested can follow their events on Facebook.
