CITY of York Athletic Club’s Lottie Langan became the under-15 girls North of England cross country champion at a windswept Pontefract Racecourse last Saturday.
Langan made a late move to win the race as she finished just four seconds ahead of Rotherham’s Lilia Harris in a time of 15 minutes 28 seconds for the 4.5k course.
In the team event, the club came seventh.
In the other junior races, Daniel Campbell came fourth in the U13 boy’s race and missed out on a medal by just four seconds.
Aimee Keefe, in eighth place, led the U13 girls’ team to sixth place in the team event.
Angus McMillan, in his first-ever race over 12k, came a very respectable fourth in the senior men’s race as he covered the 13.3k course in 42.35.
Led home by Katy Wood in 12th place and Charlotte Mason in 23rd, the club’s senior women came a creditable eighth in the team event.
