YORK City manager Colin Walker is counting on KitKat Crescent's biggest crowd of the season for the visit of Blue Square Premier table-toppers Aldershot tomorrow (3pm).
The Minstermen have only exceeded 3,000 fans on two occasions this season from 17 league and cup home fixtures.
City's highest gate of 2007/ 2008, so far, came on the opening day of the season when 3,136 witnessed a 2-1 defeat to Cambridge. Since then, an attendance of 3,042 was recorded for the 2-1 Boxing Day victory over Droylsden and Walker knows a similar turnout will enhance City's hopes of extending his 12-match unbeaten reign and defeating the leaders.
He said: "I'm really looking forward to the game and so are the players. Let's bring it on.
"I hope we get a bumper crowd and I hope it's the biggest of the season, because that's what you want as a player."
Walker has also promised his team will attempt to put Aldershot to the sword with the same brand of attacking football that dumped Grays out of the FA Trophy 4-1 on Tuesday.
He added: "We've probably just had the most complete team performance since I have been in charge. I'm not being flippant when I say it's only another game, but we haven't changed anything in terms of our preparation. It will be a fantastic test but, having gone 12 unbeaten, it's right and proper that we have a go at the top team.
"I'm sure they will pay us as much respect as we will them and the players have got to go and do what they have been doing, especially away from home.
"We've had it in fits and starts at home, but we have asked the players to give us a consistent 90 minutes here and I think we can give them a good game."
Despite Craig Farrell returning after a groin injury, Walker is expected to keep faith with his new striking partnership of Martyn Woolford and Richard Brodie, who were both on the scoresheet at Grays. That means Onome Sodje and Paul Brayson are unlikely to make the starting line-up and the City chief said: "It was a difficult decision who to play up there on Tuesday, but I made it on the back of Martyn and Richard causing Altrincham problems in the last 25 minutes of the previous game.
"They deserved to have another crack at it and both of them came up trumps, so I'm not sure whether there will be many changes tomorrow."
Darren Craddock has recovered from the knock that caused him to be substituted during the closing stages at Grays, while Ben Purkiss is expected to be available despite a minor strain.
City (probable): Evans, Parslow, McGurk, Craddock, Purkiss, Panther, Elliott, Wroe, Lloyd, Brodie, Woolford. Subs: Mimms, Beadle, Rusk, Sodje, Farrell.
Aldershot (probable): Bull, Gier, Day, Newman, Straker, Harding, Chalmers, Hudson, Soares, John Grant, Dixon. Subs: Joel Grant, Elvins, Jaimez-Ruiz, Winfield, Davies.
Referee: Mo Matadar (Lancashire).
