ASHLEY HUGILL claimed a major scalp at the BetVictor European Masters as he dumped out former world top ten star Jack Lisowski.
The York ace recorded a 5-3 victory over Lisowski in the last 64 clash between the pair at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
Hugill opened the best of nine match by winning the first frame 67-31.
Four-time ranking event finalist Lisowski stormed back to edge the second frame 69-51 before reeling off a game-high 130 break to move in front.
The unseeded Hugill conjured the perfect response as breaks of 84, 59 and 68 saw him win the next three frames to move within one of victory.
14th seed Lisowski scored a 51 break to win the seventh frame 71-52 but Hugill replied with a half century of his own, hitting 54 in a 93-0 finale.
Hugill is now through to his first match in the last 32 of the European Masters where he will come up against two-time World Championship finalist Ali Carter tomorrow.
