YORK snooker star Ashley Hugill has been drawn against tournament favourite Neil Robertson in the first round of the World Championship.
Wins over Dean Young, Martin Gould and Joe O'Connor secured Hugill a first appearance in the main draw of snooker's showpiece event.
Hugill will now make his Crucible debut against Robertson, who is ranked as the favourite to triumph in Sheffield by the bookmakers.
Robertson is the world number three and has enjoyed a remarkable 2021/22 season to date, winning The Masters, the Tour Championship, the Players Championship and the English Open.
Hugill will be seeking to deny Robertson a second world title, after the Australian's 2010 crowning, in their best of 19 match on Monday and Tuesday.
