JOHN ASKEY has insisted that York City’s performance against Guiseley was “not good enough.”
York remain without a win through their first three pre-season friendlies after losing 1-0 at Pitching In Northern Premier League premier division’s Guiseley.
Though City showed promising signs in attack, they were unable to reply to the Lions’ trialist-scored opener.
“It’s not good enough,” said manager Askey.
“We’re still working on things, I think I’ll digest what I’ve seen and then on Friday we need to start nailing things down. That’s the most important thing now.
“We’ve got players who can play at (Vanarama National League) level, but at the moment, we haven’t shown it in the games.
“They’ve been training well, they look fit and I thought we did well against Middlesbrough and in spells against Bradford (City).
“But games (like this) you’ve just got to dominate, they shouldn’t really have had any efforts at goal.”
