ABI SMITH placed 18th in the time trial on her maiden appearance at a major championships in the Commonwealth Games.
Smith, a product of Clifton Cycling Club, clocked 44:03.23 across the 29km West Park in Wolverhampton, finishing 3:58.03 behind winner Grace Brown of Australia.
Anna Henderson (40:38.55) and Georgia Williams (41:25.27) took silver and bronze respectively in the 31-strong field.
Oswaldkirk-raised Smith is back in action at the Games on Sunday (8am), when she takes part in the women’s road race team event, alongside Henderson, Alice Barnes, Maddie Leach, Joscelin Lowden and Josie Nelson.
