JAMES FORD branded his York City Knights side's performance as an “utter disgrace” as they lost 100-4 to Leigh Centurions.
York conceded 100 points for the first time as they were thrashed by the Betfred Championship leaders in devastating fashion.
The Knights were down to just 17 fit players for the trip to the Leigh Sports Village, but Ford was not willing to offer any excuses for such a timid display.
“Lots of our performance was an utter disgrace,” said the head coach. “We’ve got some blokes out there who think that they’re trying hard. But they’re not.
“It’s not just this game, it’s about all week (in training) and about the weeks and months before.
“I expect them to compete better with that. In the second half, we couldn’t tackle them. It was embarrassing.
“We didn’t compete physically or mentally. We’ve got some blokes who have clocked off.
“I’m absolutely gutted for the fans and everyone associated with the club.
“I’ve said to the players, ‘I don’t care if you fall out with me, I really don’t.’
“If they fall out with me because they think I’m too critical, then so be it, because I’m not having that.”
