TADCASTER Albion fell to their second successive defeat of the season with a 2-1 loss to Consett at Belle View Stadium.

Goals from Kieren Aplin and Jake Orrell rendered Cody Cromack’s second-half goal a consolation.

Taddy are still seeking their first win of the Pitching In Northern Premier League east campaign, having opened their term with a draw against Sheffield FC and losses to both Cleethorpes and Consett.

Harry Fisk started for Albion, his first appearance since rejoining the club on loan from Hull City last week.

Pete Davidson and Nathan Curtis made their first league starts as T’nique Fishley, Nathan Dyer and Josh Grant were all recalled.

Tadcaster started the game brightly, with Jack Carr’s energy on the pitch a driving factor behind their promising beginning.

Carr found Dyer on the right wing who fizzed a cross into the box. It was well hit, but there was no-one there to meet it.

Only moments later Consett would open the scoring. Aplin picked the ball up in midfield and drove forward.

From 25 yards out, he rifled a shot into the bottom corner to give the hosts the lead.

The County Durham side had a great opportunity to extend their advantage through Zak Atkinson, but he was unable to make sufficient contact with his header.

Tadcaster had a free-kick from the right-wing that, crossed in by Grant, met the head of James Beaston.

His header deflected off a defender and was comfortably claimed by Ross Coombe.

In the final stages of the first half, Consett managed to double their lead after a well-worked move saw Orrell advance into the box.

Orrell’s powerful finish went beyond Fisk and into the goal, seeing Tadcaster down 2-0 at the break.

Within two minutes of the second half beginning, the Brewers pulled one back through captain Cromack.

A Grant cross was nodded down by Brett Agnew into the path of Cromack, who headed beyond Coombe.

Tadcaster pressed on in search of an equaliser, but Consett stood firm and the visitors could not find a second goal.

Next up for Albion is a game against North Shields away from home on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Elsewhere, in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League division one, Selby Town beat Swallownest 2-1 at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium.

Goals from Harry Clapham and Liam Flanagan gave Selby a two-goal advantage before Jack Haslam’s late strike for the visitors.

Towards the end of the first half, Kyle Fish’s ball found Clapham who, through on goal, slotted his effort into the net.

Both sides continued to have promising spells of play in the second half, with Fish almost scoring on his debut for the Robins, but driving his strike just wide.

Selby’s lead was strengthened when, after just over an hour had been played, Flanagan scored after he was played in by Henry Rollinson.

Swallownest pulled one back through Haslam, but could not overturn the deficit.

Town will travel to Armthorpe Welfare on Wednesday (7.45pm) for their next match.

Meanwhile, in the Ebac Northern League division one, Pickering Town drew 1-1 with Redcar Athletic.

Jamie Thornton’s opening goal for Pickering was cancelled out by an Issac Walker equaliser.

Town have acquired four points from their last two games, having picked up none from their four opening matches.

Bouncing back from a 7-1 thrashing to West Allotment Celtic, the Pikes have gone on to beat Tow Law Town 2-1 and draw with Redcar.

Next up for Pickering is a home clash against Newton Aycliffe on Tuesday (7.45pm).
