YORK kept their Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North premier division title hopes alive after a six-wickets win over leaders Driffield Town.

Driffield pair Adam Drury and Noah Kelly scored 71 and 70 respectively as the table-toppers reached 261-8 from their full allocation of 50 overs.

York took the game to the wire thanks to Duncan Snell’s 86 and Ryan McKendry’s 60.

In the final over, Luke Kilby was unbeaten on 50 while Charlie Elliot (16no) hit the winning run.

Victory for York cuts the gap between themselves and Driffield down to just eight points with only three matches remaining for the top two.

Meanwhile, third-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge returned to winning ways after beating struggling Sessay by five wickets.

A hard-fought 88 from opener Matthew Till, an innings which contained 11 fours and two sixes, led Sessay’s posting of 217-7 from 50 overs.

Tim Hall (36 not out) Nasir Jamal (29) and James Skelton (27) also made handy contributions for the hosts.

The latter eventually fell to Dulash Udayanga (2-50), with Ben Harrison also taking a couple of wickets (2-35).

Udayanga stood out with the bat too as his unbeaten 83 led Bridge to 221-5 from 42.1 overs.

The Sri Lankan, who hit a dozen fours, was joined at the finish by fellow half-centurion Freddie Collins (52no).

Sheriff Hutton remain third in the premier division, 10 points above nearest challengers Woodhouse Grange, who have a game in hand on the Ryedale club.

Grange also won by five wickets last time out, triumphing at bottom-half side Harrogate.

The home side were all out with a ball to spare for 219, with Ben Kempley (70) the only Harrogate player to surpass 35.

An undefeated 89 from opener Christopher Bilton, a knock which included 10 fours, saw the visitors to the winning line inside 43.2 overs.

Richard Walton (40 from 30 balls) and Harry Gamble (32 from 35) each made useful quick-fire runs.

Elsewhere, Acomb remain rooted to the bottom of the division after being thrashed by 179 runs at Castleford.

Brayden Clark’s 100no was the highlight of Castleford’s 240-5.

Acomb collapsed in response and were all out for 61 in just 18.4 overs.

Eddie Morrison (5-34) finished with a five-for, while extras (8) was Acomb’s second-highest scorer behind Edward Wade (40).

His 10 team-mates managed just 13 runs in an innings featuring six zeros.

Second-from-bottom Beverley Town fared better but lost out by 33 runs to Clifton Alliance.

Half-centuries from Andrew Whaits (90) and Scott Hopkinson (51) saw Clifton close on 217-8.

Top-order runs from Ben Hatfield (86), Jacob Hunter (38) and Paul Ellis (21) got Beverley off to a good start but they collapsed from 163-4 to 184-9.
