LENELL JOHN-LEWIS believes York City "definitely could have got all three points" from the 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic.
York enjoyed a strong first half against newly-relegated Oldham but were unable to find a breakthrough before the interval.
The Latics punished City shortly after the restart through Hallam Hope's strike before Olly Dyson equalised 25 minutes later.
The Minstermen finished as the stronger side but ultimately had to settle for a point at the LNER Community Stadium.
"I definitely think we could have got all three points, so we're slightly disappointed," rued captain John-Lewis.
"I think they had a little bit of a spell in the second half but I thought we were very good in the first half.
"Then we managed to dig in and get back into the game and we definitely finished as the stronger team.
"We're disappointed not to have taken three points but we have to take confidence from that and move forward.
"In the first half, we played some good football and should have gone in a goal up at least.
"We've got to take confidence from that and keep moving forward."
That City ended the match so strongly was testament to their fitness, particularly given that it was only two days on from the 1-0 away win at Maidenhead United.
"It's extremely hard to go Saturday-Monday, I think we're the only league that does it," admitted striker John-Lewis.
"It's not easy. Credit to the boys that have played both full games because it's not easy at all."
