STEPH TURNBULL has expressed her pride at York City Ladies' unbeaten start to the National League division one north season.
York backed up an opening day 1-1 draw at Norton and Stockton Ancients with a 1-0 home win over Bradford City, with Alice Hughes scoring the only goal of the game.
Playing their first season in the fourth tier after promotion from the North East Regional premier division, City's start has delighted manager Turnbull.
"For two games in this league as a newly-promoted side, I think they've been brilliant and I'm proud of every single one of them," she said.
"We just need to keep building on that.
"I've just said to the girls, 'To get four points from your first two games as a newly-promoted team is a big achievement'.
"I'm really proud with that start.
"I thought we were outstanding in the first half and we moved the ball really well.
"We didn't give Bradford anything. Our quality dropped off a little bit in the second half.
"They had a few chances but we managed to grind the result, which is the most important thing."
Tomorrow night, Turnbull's side visit Hull City at Barton Town's Easy Buy Stadium (7.45pm).
Hull have lost their first two league matches since relegation from the National League northern premier division.
A 1-0 defeat at Leeds United on the opening day was followed by a 2-1 loss at home to Norton.
