FIT-AGAIN Patrick Bamford is in line to lead Leeds United attack at Brentford tomorrow (3pm).

The injured striker returned to Premier League action as a late substitute in a niggly 1-1 home draw with winless Everton on Tuesday night.

Once again, the big talking point at Elland Road was about the need to bring in a forward before the end of the transfer window to bolster the Whites’ squad after Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder against the Toffees.

United later answered those calls with the deadline day signing of 18-year-old Italian international Wilfried Gnonto from Zurich.

A scan will reveal the extent of the injury which forced Rodrigo off after a third of the game had evaporated with Leeds trailing to Anthony Gordon’s 17th-minute strike.

The goal should have been avoided as Diego Llorente failed to cut out Alex Iwobi’s through ball in a rare visitors’ attack.

Frank Lampard’s side grasped every opportunity to slow United’s momentum with Leeds struggling to get any rhythm in the first half before the Whites improved to get their reward in the second period when they pushed higher up the pitch.

Marsch said: “Everton played the game to slow things down, which can be an intelligent tactic coming here to Elland Road and trying to keep things a little bit quieter but thought the referee could have handled it better.

“It was clear from the first minute they were kicking balls away and they were trying to delay so I’m pleased with our team.”

The equaliser came when summer signing Luis Sinisterra marked his full Premier League debut by skimming a shot from 18 yards past Jordan Pickford on 55 minutes.

The England goalkeeper had earlier kept out a stinging effort from Brenden Aaronson before denying Rodrigo’s substitute, Gelhardt, who was himself was replaced by Bamford in the latter stages.

The fact Bamford did not come on to take over from Rodrigo with an hour remaining merely emphasised United’s predicament when it comes to attacking options but he is favourite to start against Brentford.

Everton came under intense pressure but always looked dangerous in their few breakaways with Demari Gray denied a goal by a thin offside decision, Rasmus Kristensen blocked a goal-bound effort by Amadou Onana before Nathan Patterson fired at goalkeeper Illan Meslier when clean through.
