PICKERING Town have parted company with manager Steve Roberts after a run of just one win from the club's first eight league matches.
Pickering were relegated to the Ebac Northern League division one from the Pitching In Northern Premier League east last season and have struggled to adapt to life in step five.
Having picked up just four points from their opening eight league fixtures, Town sit third-from-bottom and only one place and point outside the relegation zone.
Roberts took charge at the Pikes in January 2020, succeeding Denny Ingram, and after seeing the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons curtailed amid the coronavirus pandemic, relegation followed last term.
Pickering have said that a statement from chairman Wayne Taylor "will follow in due course".
Assistant manager Tony Hackworth and coach Ged Dalton will oversee the management responsibilities while a replacement for Roberts is searched for, beginning with Saturday's trip to third-placed Whitley Bay (3pm).
