JAMES FORD has revealed that the transfer fee York City Knights have received from Leeds Rhinos for Toby Warren is “worthwhile".
York sold Warren to Leeds last week, with the 19-year-old signing a four-year deal at Headingley Stadium, keeping him at the Rhinos until the end of the 2026 season.
Former Heworth junior Warren was contracted to the Knights for the 2023 campaign, meaning that York have been given compensation for the back-rower.
“It’s not for me to comment on that,” said Ford, when asked about the size of the fee.
“But, I know what kind of fees other young players have gone for previously and it’s worthwhile.
“But I’ll leave the specifics of that question to Clint (Goodchild, chairman).”
