YORK City Knights hooker Sam Davis has signed a permanent deal with London Broncos following his loan switch to the capital club.
Davis joined York during the off-season from London and went on to play eight times for the Knights, scoring one try.
York head coach James Ford later admitted that he struggled make "the impact on Sam that I wanted" and Davis returned to the Broncos in June on loan until the end of the 2022 season.
The 23-year-old will remain at London, whom he played for 13 times this year, helping Mike Eccles' side to seven wins from their final 13 matches as they finished 11th and 10 points clear of relegation.
“Overall, this year was disappointing, but beating a few teams who reached the play-offs towards the end of the season shows how it’s possible to turn things around," Davis said.
“We all want to be competing for the play-offs next season and get the Broncos back to being the club we all know it can be.
"Mike is a great team leader and motivator who gets the whole squad onboard with his vision which excites me.
“Having a coach like Mike is good for the team and my development personally, I’m happy to be back and can’t wait to get going again.”
Eccles said: “We were really pleased to bring Sam back on loan from York this summer and his efforts were key in our results turning a corner.
"Sam’s qualities on the pitch are outstanding and the club means a lot to him personally.
“He’s a tough and gritty player who will lead from the front and for me is everything I could want from a player in the middle.
“He’s a great supporter of his teammates off the pitch too and his selfless character positively contributes to the togetherness and morale of the squad in all scenarios.”
