PAUL JUBB suffered a shock straight sets defeat to Cannon Kingsley in the second round of the Columbus Challenger II.
Jubb, who sits 360 places above Kingsley in the world rankings, lost the first set on the tiebreaker 7-4 before succumbing to defeat 6-4 in the second and final set.
The York-born star battled hard in a remarkable first set that saw four consecutive losses of serve - two from each player - through games four to seven.
Jubb rallied from conceding set point to Kingsley by holding to live and and forcing a tiebreaker.
The 22-year-old lost serve twice in a row as his Mineola-born opponent took the first set.
The second set could not have started better for world number 206 Jubb, who broke Kingsley's first game amid racking up a 3-0 lead.
World number 566 Kingsley responded emphatically, winning his next four service games to love.
In-between, the American pushed Jubb all the way in a 25-point game before twice breaking the Yorkshireman's serve.
Jubb had beaten Ryan Harrison in straight sets (7-6, 6-4) on Wednesday in the first round.
