FORMER York Wasps captain John Strange has been named as the NRLW Dally M Coach of the Year for 2022.
Strange guided Sydney Roosters Women to the NRLW Minor Premiership title earlier this month after winning all five of their regular season matches.
Sydney went on to suffer a 24-10 defeat to Parramatta Eels in the NRLW semi-finals at the weekend.
The loss was just the second the Roosters have suffered since Strange took charge of the club ahead of the 2021 season, in which they won the NRLW Grand Final.
The former York, Featherstone Rovers and Sheffield Eagles full-back took out the award ahead of finalists Jamie Soward (St George Illawarra Dragons), Ronald Griffiths (Newcastle Knights) and Dean Widders (Parramatta).
During his playing career, Strange made 40 appearances for York across the 1998 and 1999 seasons, scoring 14 tries and six drop-goals, with the Wasps winning promotion from Division Two in the former.
