RYAN FALLOWFIELD and Fraser Kerr are facing late fitness tests ahead of York City's clash with Torquay United at the LNER Community Stadium tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

Fallowfield and Kerr both came off injured in Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at FC Halifax Town, with the former departing after just 22 minutes and the latter substituted at half time.

Should the pair miss out, York would be down to just three fit senior defenders, in Maxim Kouogun, Sam Sanders and Alex Whittle.

Centre-back Adam Crookes and right-back Michael Duckworth remain sidelined through injury while 18-year-old Ben Dale is still on loan at Ebac Northern League division one side Redcar Athletic.

The potential absences of Fallowfield and Kerr could force central midfielder Olly Dyson to drop to right-back, as he did during the Minstermen's successful promotion run through the Vanarama National League North play-offs last season.

“It’s touch and go," assessed City first-team coach Kingsley James on right-back Fallowfield and centre-back Kerr.

"We’ll have to wait and see tomorrow (Saturday) really. That will dictate who plays where.

“If they’re not fit, they’re not fit. We have to manage the squad as well as we can. We’re already short in a couple of areas.

“We don’t want to throw people in and create long-term injuries from something that potentially could have been a week or a couple of weeks out.

“We’ve got what we’ve got and we’ll know more when we do a test in the morning.”

York remain without injured pair Paddy McLaughlin and Manny Duku although new signing Nathan Thomas, who joined the club on Thursday, is fit enough for a potential City debut, most likely to come from the bench.
