THREE-TIME champion Neil Robertson suffered a shock 6-2 defeat to Joe Perry in the 2022 Cazoo UK Championship at the York Barbican.
World number 30 Perry made the dream start, taking a 4-0 lead into the mid-session interval, having started with a century break of 102.
Robertson, the world number two, won frames five and seven, but Perry needed just one more for victory, finding it in the eighth, which he claimed thanks to a 64 break.
Elsewhere in the last 32, twice UK finalist Mark Allen beat Jordan Brown 6-4.
Defending champion Zhao Xintong was knocked out by Sam Craigie 6-2 while snooker legend Jimmy White lost by the same scoreline to Ryan Day.
World number seven Kyren Wilson overcame Matthew Selt 6-3 and last year’s UK finalist Luca Brecel defeated Lyu Haotian 6-4.
