ASHLEY HUGILL suffered a 4-1 defeat to former world number two Stephen Maguire at the BetVictor Scottish Open.
Maguire made a dream start, knocking in a century break of 105 to win the opener 106-9.
The 2004 UK Championship winner made a 50 break in the tight second frame, which he won 72-63.
Maguire’s lead increased to 3-0 when he managed a break of 79, winning frame three 79-56.
Melbourne potter Hugill avoided a whitewash by taking the fourth frame 73-0.
But the Glaswegian closed out with another half-century break, making 60 to win the last frame 71-29.
