ASHLEY HUGILL has qualified for the BetVictor English Open following the suspension of opponent Yan Bingtao.
World Snooker have suspended Bingtao as part of an "ongoing investigation into allegations of manipulating the outcome of matches for betting purposes".
Melbourne's Hugill will now take on Chinese youngster Fan Zhengyi in the English Open's last 64 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
The 21-year-old won the European Masters - his first ranking title - in February, beating seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-9 in the final.
In their most recent meeting in August, Zhengyi beat Hugill 4-0 at the BetVictor Northern Ireland Open qualifiers.
Hugill will be looking to end 2022 on a high, having won four of his 13 matches this season.
