MATTHEW FISHER has been named in the England Lions Test and ODI squads for the tour of Sri Lanka next month.
The Easingwold bowler is one of only four players to have been selected in both squads, with a total of 28 players selected across the two formants.
England Lions take on the SLC Board XI in a three-day warm-up match from Wednesday, January 25 to Friday, January 27 at RPICS Colombo.
Two four-day Tests at GICS Galle follow against Sri Lanka 'A', from Tuesday, January 31 to Friday, February 3 and from Tuesday, February 7 to Friday, February 10.
The tour concludes with three ODIs, all to be staged at RPICS Colombo, on Wednesday, February 15, Saturday, February 18 and Tuesday, February 21.
ECB performance director Mo Bobat said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to expose players to the challenges of playing A-team cricket in the sub-continent, which will be fantastic for their development.
“The series also provides us with the chance to observe the players ahead of this year’s World Cup as well as next winter’s Test series in India."
