YORK City chairman Glen Henderson released a statement this morning in response to the Supporters’ Trust’s takeover announcement on Friday.

The Trust revealed on Friday that the prospected takeover had fallen through, and that they had to bankroll the wages of players and staff at York.

The statement accused Henderson of refusing to pay the wages of those involved with the club, but Henderson has since denied this movement.

Henderson responded on the club website, announcing that he intended to fully finance the club if the Trust were unable to provide a buyer by midnight on Tuesday, April 4.

He also confirmed that his shares were still up for sale, and that he hopes a suitable buyer could purchase his shares.

Henderson said on the club website: “After the public statement made by York City Supporters’ Trust in the media and on the radio on Friday (March 31st), I would like to put the minds of all York City FC fans at rest.

“Please be assured that I fully intend to financially support the football club if the Supporters’ Trust are unable to secure a buyer by midnight on Tuesday 4th April 2023.

“Moving forward, my shares in the club will remain up for sale, hoping to secure the most suitable buyer for the football club.

“In the meantime, I hope everyone can get behind Mikey and the team throughout the run-in.”
