SHAQ FORDE has expressed his gratitude to supporters, after making the final appearance of his loan spell with York City.
The 18-year-old joined York in late December and became an influential figure in the squad since joining on-loan from Sky Bet Championship outfit Watford, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances, including a late equaliser in City’s 1-1 draw with Notts County on Saturday.
Forde also made history whilst with the Minstermen, becoming the club’s youngest-ever player to score a hattrick in York’s 4-1 victory over Maidstone United in January.
The young forward has thanked supporters for showing faith in him, and has opened up on his future ahead of his impending return to Watford.
“I’m feeling good, I’m happy to get a goal and a point up against a tough team.” Forde told the Press.
“I’m happy to end the season with a goal in front of the York fans, it’s been a great season.
“I just want to say thankyou to all of the supporters for showing me support and love throughout the entire time I’ve been here.
“They gave me the ability to push through and I can’t thank them enough.
“The fans were amazing. They came out in great numbers, I think saw over 1000 there so that’s a great turnout for the last day of the season.
“I can’t thank them enough, they’ve been excellent all season with everything that’s been going on and they’ve stayed behind the boys and have helped us get through some tough games.
“I can’t thank them enough really.
“It’s very important for me, I know I’m still young so I’m going to have to come off of the bench a few times.
“To know I can come off of the bench and make an impact is always good for me and gives me more confidence in myself no matter what.
“I haven’t spoken to Watford yet at the moment.
“I’ll go speak to them and see what’s best for me, whether I stay and try to fight for my place or if I go out on loan again to get more experience.
“I’ll do what’s best for me and see what happens.”
