SELBY Town have moved quickly to secure the services of first-team manager Ryan Cooper until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Cooper was hired on a permanent basis after a caretaker spell back in October, but after guiding the Robins to 10th position in the Northern Counties Eastern League division one.
The Robins have also confirmed that work is being done on new home, away and referee dressing rooms as well as home and away dugouts, with a view of making the club have a more ‘modern appeal’.
Club chairman Steve McGarrity is the man behind the decisions, and told the club website: “What the manager and coaches did last season was, in my opinion, brilliant.
“They brought stability, togetherness and a little bit of fight that we were lacking early on last season.
“Planning for next season was the first on a long list of tasks this summer, firstly was to secure the services of Ryan, Nige and Mark. This done, we are now moving our attentions to players.
“Rest assured, we are looking for players who can make a difference and take us to where we deserve to be.
“We have a great squad already but as always, it doesn’t hurt to add a few more for that competitive edge to the team.
“Ryan has outlined a few targets and we shall look at those in due course.”
Cooper also spoke on the decision to extend his stay with Selby, also telling the club website: “Having had previous discussions with the the Chairman, I am very pleased to continue as manager of Selby Town Football club alongside Nige and Mark and we are all very much looking forward to the new season.
“I’d like to take a moment once again to thank the Chairman for the support as we now look to move forward as a Club.
“After visiting the ground on Thursday with the squad and witnessing the hard work that is happening behind the scenes, there is a real buzz forming around the place and we can not wait to get the whole squad in for a good pre-season campaign and really push on from there.
“It is truly fantastic to see the hard work coming to fruition as myself, Nige and Mark now look to take the club to where it deserves to be.”
