TWO former York City players celebrated promotion this weekend, with one set to reunite with his former side in the Vanarama National League for next season.
The National League also has all of its teams confirmed for next season, after the Vanarama National League North and South play-offs wrapped up on Sunday.
Former York striker Macauley Langstaff will make the step into the Football League for next season, after guiding Notts County to promotion through the National League play-offs after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Chesterfield.
Langstaff ended the National League season on 42 goals from 47 games, despite not finding the net in Notts County's play-off matches.
The 26-year-old played for City from 2018 to 2020, scoring 11 goals in 52 games before moving onto Gateshead.
But despite being in front for just two minutes in both National League play-off matches, Langstaff's Notts County have gained promotion to Sky Bet League Two following a penalty shootout victory after a 2-2 draw with Chesterfield after extra-time.
The result sees Chesterfield remain in the National League for another season, after falling short at the final hurdle.
Another former Minsterman to gain promotion this weekend was Kidderminster Harriers manager Russ Penn, whose side defeated Brackley Town 2-0 in the National League North play-off final on Sunday.
A brace from Ashley Hemmings saw Penn's side return to the National League after seven seasons in the sixth tier, after winning their final nine matches of the season.
Penn featured for City across two spells, making 112 appearances and suffering relegation from the Football League in 2016.
The 37-year-old was also linked with the York job after David Webb's sacking in February, but Michael Morton was entrusted with the role on a permanent basis.
Kidderminster will be joined by Oxford City in the National League next season, after an emphatic play-off final victory in the National League South.
Oxford overcame St Albans City with a 4-0 triumph, the same scoreline that they had at the end of the first-half.
St Albans made the controversial decision to bench their top scorer Shaun Jeffers before the match, something which later proved to be a damaging decision.
Next season sees Ebbsfleet United, AFC Fylde, Kidderminster, Oxford City, Rochdale and Hartlepool United replace Wrexham, Notts County, Yeovil Town, Torquay United, Scunthorpe United and Maidstone United.
