YORK City will host newly-promoted Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield Wednesday as part of their pre-season schedule.
The fixture will take place on Saturday, July 8 for a 1.30pm kick-off at the LNER Community Stadium.
It was a highly-requested fixture amongst the Sheffield Wednesday fanbase, after it was confirmed on Sunday that York had secured the signing of goalkeeper David Stockdale from the Owls.
Darren Moore's Sheffield Wednesday were promoted to the Championship at Wembley Stadium, after defeating rivals Barnsley in the play-off final.
The two sides will be facing one another for the first time since 1977, which Sheffield Wednesday were victorious in after a 2-0 win in Division Three.
City’s pre-season schedule now consists of three fixtures, with matches against fellow Championship outfit Middlesbrough on Saturday, July 15 (1pm), and a match away to local side Tadcaster Albion on Saturday, July 22 (3pm).
