YORK City are close to completing a takeover, as confirmed in a club statement by Glen Henderson.
It was confirmed in December that Henderson had offered the York City Supporters' Trust his majority share in the club, but the Trust have been unable to acquire the funds to purchase them.
As a result, Henderson's shares in the club have been available to the open market, with the club now confirming that a takeover is close to happening.
Henderson confirmed that the takeover talks were at advanced stages with an interested party, with only a few details needing to be completed.
The chairman went on to mention that he believes they are right people to take the club forward, and that further updates will be made in due course.
Henderson's statement reads: "First and foremost, I am overwhelmed by the unwavering commitment demonstrated by York City supporters.
"With around 1,800 season tickets already sold, and still two months to go until the start of the campaign, the strength of support of our fans continues to shine.
"It makes an enormous difference to both the players and management, knowing they have such support behind them every time they step on the pitch.
"I am writing today to you to address the ongoing progress of the sale of York City Football Club.
"Over the past few months, I have held talks with a number of potential buyers. Following these discussions, I believe that I have found the right people to take the club forward.
"The potential investors have now met with myself and the Trust on numerous occasions and talks continue.
"We are now at an advanced stage with the interested party, and only a few details need to be completed.
"There are exciting times ahead for the club and I have complete faith that the ambition of the potential new owners will ensure a very bright future for YCFC.
"As I’m sure you will understand, at this stage the nature of these negotiations are subject to strict processes and there is a degree of confidentiality that must be adhered to.
"Rest assured that we will keep supporters updated as and when we can, and a further announcement will be made in due course.
"My family and I, as owners and fans, have only ever wanted what is best for the club, and I hope that this proposed change of ownership will bring a brighter future for everyone at York City."
