TADCASTER Albion have announced Garry Plant as the club’s new chairman- and have revealed some exciting new plans for the future.

Plant joins Tadcaster after previously working as the managing director for Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town, helping oversee Harrogate’s rise up the leagues.

The new Brewers chairman also worked on the Vanarama National League board, whilst overseeing Harrogate’s Wetherby Road improvements and helping set up Town’s youth development programme.

Plant has now taken over at Tadcaster and revealed some exciting times are ahead for the club, with plans to develop the So-Trak Stadium and become more involved with the community.

“When I first spoke to the board at The Albion I was struck by the passion and sincerity that came across from everyone.” Plant told the club website.

“It is apparent that it has not been an easy or comfortable past 18 months or so and there needs to be a return to basics on and off the pitch.

“Supporters and club volunteers are the heartbeat of a football club and that includes the board of directors that sink so many hours of their own time in to running Albion without any financial gain.

“Mick O’Connell heads up a fresh, new management team and has already stamped his mark on the direction going forward - honest, hardworking, exciting football, no passengers or prisoners.”

Plant also confirmed plans to improve the stadium, with the hopes the facilities can become more involved with the local community to help raise funds.

“We are in discussion with the Premier League Stadium Improvement via The FA Football Foundation to develop the stadium.

“There is significant funding potential but there is no such thing as a free lunch, we have to match fund the proposed offer and that means we have a significant sum to raise.

“The club must embrace and embed itself into the local community.

“As we develop the stadium it must be a facility the people of Tadcaster can use to support community groups.

“This season is about consolidating our position, building the foundations for promotion and setting our sights on climbing the football pyramid.

“Honesty, hard work, exciting football and winning, we need everyone’s support to make this work and put Albion in the frame.”
