YORK City manager Michael Morton has confirmed a new addition to the coaching team, with Richard Taylor joining the club as first-team coach.
Taylor has joined York after spells in Norway and with Premier League giants Manchester United, and after knowing Morton since school.
Morton also confirmed that AJ Greaves and Nathan Thomas have both left the club after not turning up to pre-season training, despite being invited back by the club.
“There’s quite a few of us at the moment, we’re still looking for analysis and another strength and conditioning coach, just to support the first-team.
“Matt’s [Uggla, owner] really big on the physical stuff and the tactical stuff backing it up, and if we want to look at future players we’re going to need data so we can mirror a Brentford slash Brighton model.
“Macca’s [Tony McMahon] going to be in as my assistant, Scott’s [Barrow] going to be in around it whilst he’s getting fit and we’ve brought in Richard Taylor to support the first team, and Joe [Stead] with the goalkeeping.
“So it’s a really good team at the moment, we’re all together and we all trust each other.
“Richard is a friend of mine that I’ve known since I was at school. He’s worked at Man United, he’s been out in Norway and I’ve dragged him back to help with some stuff.
“He was keen to stay and help us out as a first-team coach, so today he was working with the defenders on heading and stuff.
“He’s got good pedigree, he’s got his badges with where he’s been. A bit different to me in personalities as he’s a bit stricter, but I quite like that as we have Macca with how he is being bubbly.
“We’ve got a really good balance.
“Scott is brilliant, he’s doing well bless him and working his socks off.
“He still can’t do any contact work, but he’s been joining in with the running and up there in the mix.
“He should be proud of himself, and hopefully we can get him on the pitch in the next few months.
“None of them [Greaves and Thomas] have trained with us in pre-season.”
