YORK City Ladies have announced exciting news in the past few days, with the club set to play their home games at a new venue and the development of a new under-23's side.
The Minsterbelles previously played their first-team matches at York St John's University, but from the 2023/24 season, will play their football at the York Sport Athletics Stadium.
This is subject to Women's National League approval, whilst the development squads will continue to play at York St John's University.
Speaking on the move to the new home ground, chairman Paula Stainton said: “YCFC Foundation have a long standing relationship with York Sport & the University of York and we’re delighted to be able to host our games at the stadium in order to be able to increase our engagement with the community.
"We also hope to return to the LNER Community Stadium for a number of our games to be agreed."
The club have also announced the formation of an under-23's squad, who will provide a route to play for the first-team.
Speaking on the new side, first-team manager and technical director Steph Turnbull said: “The key reason for developing this is to provide football for players of all ages to meet their development needs.
“Open age football is a huge jump for many young players, so having the structure in place to support their development in the best possible way is key to our club."
