FORMER York Valkyrie star Hollie-Mae Dodd has been ruled out for the rest of the Telstra National Women’s Rugby League Premiership season with injury.

The 20-year-old had made a fine start to life at new club Canberra Raiders, but will now miss the remainder of the 2023 season after rupturing her ACL during the opening stages of last Sunday's 34-12 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys.

Dodd made history when she became the first English woman to sign a professional NRLW contract in April and three months later made her Canberra debut against Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Women.

She scored her first Raiders try against Wests Tigers on August 6, also becoming the first English woman to score in the competition.

The second-rower had ranked among the league's highest tacklers, having made 188 across her seven matches thus far.

In a statement on social media, Canberra said: "Hollie-Mae Dodd will miss the remainder of the #NRLW season after scans revealed that she ruptured her ACL in Sunday’s win over the Cowboys.

"We wish Hollie all the best with her surgery and recovery."

The Valkyrie also offered their support, saying that they were "saddened" to hear the news, and wishing Hollie all the best in her surgery and rehabilitation.

Canberra currently sit fifth in their debut NRLW season, having won five of their eight matches so far this season.
