NINE York Valkyrie players are in contention to feature for England Women in their upcoming Autumn International Test against Wales at Headingley on November 4.

Savannah Andrade, Jas Bell, Georgie Hetherington, Emma Kershaw, Lacey Owen, Sinead Peach, Tamzin Renouf, Tara Jane Stanley  and Liv Wood have all been included in Stuart Barrow's 41-player performance squad for the fixture.

Young winger Liv Whitehead, who will depart the Valkyrie during the off-season, has also been included.

Fellow Betfred Women's Super League heavyweights St Helens and Leeds Rhinos are well-represented across the squad, with 12 and eight inclusions respectively.

Two training sessions will take place across the weekend, with players split into Yorkshire and Lancashire squads. Both teams will consist of senior England players alongside those currently involved with the Knights.

Stanley, who was born in Widnes, will turn out for Lancashire, whilst the remainder of her Valkyrie team-mates will play for Yorkshire.

The squads will play an Origin training game at Huddersfield YCMA next Wednesday (October 25), with Barrow then naming his team to face Wales.

“The quality of rugby on show during this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League was fantastic, so I thought it was important to give the Knights and our senior internationals an opportunity to train and play together and our fixture in Huddersfield should be great experience for everyone involved," said Barrow.

“Wales will pose a much different challenge to when we last faced them and I think that the progression of Cardiff Demons over the last couple of seasons proves that, so we are keeping focussed and preparing well for what’s sure to be a fantastic game.”

The England-Wales clash is the seventh time that England Women have played in front of a home crowd since 2020, and will be part of an international double-header with the Third Test Match of the Men's series against Tonga.

Shaun Wane's side currently lead that series 1-0, with former York Knights loanee Mikey Lewis playing a starring role as they claimed a 22-18 victory at St Helens' Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday.
