SOME 80 players will be vying for trophies at the York & District Table Tennis Closed Championships this weekend.
There are 20 trophies on offer at the event, which will be held at the York RI Gymnasium across Saturday and Sunday.
Coneysthorpe's Martin Lowe, the reigning Men's Singles champion, will hope to take the crown for the 14th time, but will be met by stiff opposition in second seed Josh Bramley (York RI) and joint third seeds Mikey Arnold (Shiyi Ling) and Christian Carcamo (Topspin).
Lowe is also the current Veterans' Singles Holder, and the top seed in the Men's Doubles with Filip Wojtkowiak (York RI), a competition in which James Atkins and Will Whattam (Topspin) are seeded second.
