TADCASTER Albion wrapped up their Northern Counties East League premier division season in style, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Hallam.
Goals from Oli Norman, Charlie Owen, Junayd Cassius-Gill and Joe Crosby saw Mick O'Connell's team sign off from the season on a high, moving up to tenth in the table as a result.
After beating a pitch inspection, Hallam kicked off in dry conditions attacking the A64 end and had an early chance after one minute with a direct free kick in the edge of the penalty area, but hit the ball straight into the wall.
The Brewers then had a good chance as Norman shot straight at the keeper.
On nine minutes, Hallam claimed a penalty after a slightly clumsy challenge in the area, but it was not given.
There was a real turning point in the game in the 34th minute as Tadcaster goalkeeper Sam Green made a fantastic save, diving to his left to push away a good shot from outside of the box.
Just a minute later, Tadcaster were on the attack down the left as Oli Norman was put in by Tweed, he had a good shot saved by the keeper, but he was unable to hold it and the midfielder converted the rebound into the far corner, putting Taddy ahead.
The Brewers were quickly on the attack again a few minutes later down the left, but the cross could not be converted as it arrived at an awkward angle which led to a soft header.
Another potential turning point occurred in first-half injury time, as Tadcaster had a good penalty shout turned down as Tweed burst into the area and went down under a challenge. The referee saw it differently and booked him for simulation.
This was Tweed's second yellow card, so the red card that followed had the Brewers down to 10 men just before the break.
Tadcaster had enjoyed the better of the first-half, but the odds were now against them as they were a man down.
O'Connell's side started the second period brightly with a low effort by Owen from outside the box that was easily saved.
Then in a challenge in the centre of the pitch, it was the Hallam number 7 Blakeleys turn to get a yellow card, and again, it was his second so it became a red. With so many bookings early on, it was doubtful we would get to the end of the game with 22 still on the pitch, with both sides reduced to ten.
Norman was now starting to have a good game and a good dribble in the centre of the pitch led to a Tadcaster shot that was blocked for a corner.
They had made a bright start to the second half, but Hallam were not out of it and a good move down the right was well blocked by the Taddy defender for a corner that came to nothing.
12 minutes into the second-half, the Brewers doubled their lead as a good Norman dribble down the right was squared to Owen, who connected first time.
Again, the ball came back from the keeper and he buried the rebound into the roof of the net.
The Brewers were now in the mood and when Crosby blocked a clearance from the keeper, the ball bounced a few yards wide of the goal.
Midway through the half, Crosby burst into the area but hit the ball wide.
The game then went into a quieter period but this was ended as Cassius-Gill converted for 3-0 with a sharp shot past the keeper.
As we entered the final 15 minutes, Taddy went one-on-one with the keeper , but he made a good save from Stewart to knock the ball away for a corner.
But it wasn't all Taddy, as the home keeper Green claimed the ball in a minor scramble, and Hallam hit a further decent chance wide of the goal.
By this time, many substitutions had been made by both sides and one of them Crosby was to put the icing on the Taddy cake as he robbed a defender in a tackle before converting well past the keeper, putting Tadcaster 4-0 up.
The result takes Tadcaster to a good 10th position in the table, but with Knaresborough having games in hand, their likely finishing spot will be 11th.
Tuesday night's win makes them nine games unbeaten in the league to end the season.
