ALEX HUNT has returned to York City on a permanent basis.
Fan favourite Hunt re-joins York on a permanent deal from Grimsby Town, signing from the Mariners for an undisclosed fee.
Hunt was also unveiled in York's new home strip for the 2024/25 season, which has been designed by Hummel.
The 24-year-old was highly-rated at City in his short loan spell with the Minstermen at the back end of the 2023/24 season, making nine appearances.
Hunt played a vital role when featuring nine times under manager Adam Hinshelwood, despite making his debut in a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Barnet, which could cost former boss Neal Ardley his job.
A rocky debut for the midfielder would see him fail to pick up any minutes from the bench following the Barnet defeat, before breaking into the starting eleven again in the 6-1 defeat to Altrincham.
Hunt also registered one assist in his loan spell, curling an inch-perfect cross towards Dipo Akinyemi, who comfortably finished in City's crucial 1-1 draw against FC Halifax Town.
Now back in North Yorkshire permanently, Hunt departs Grimsby having featured 62 times for the Mariners, featuring in both the Vanarama National League and Sky Bet League Two.
Hunt also has previous experience with boyhood clubs Sheffield Wednesday, who he made nine senior appearances for, and Oldham Athletic, in a loan spell in 2022.
He becomes the sixth addition of the Summer, following Ollie Pearce, Harrison Male, Joe Felix, Ashley Nathaniel-George and Tyrese Sinclair to York.
