YORK City's pre-season friendly with Huddersfield Town has been mutually cancelled.

After an agreement was reached by both parties, York have confirmed that their match with Huddersfield at the LNER Community Stadium on Wednesday, July 10 (7pm) has been cancelled.

This decision was made by newly-appointed Huddersfield Head Coach Michael Duff, with a friendly between the Terriers and Alfreton Town also cancelled.

Duff opted to cancel the friendlies to allow his Huddersfield team to prioritise a full week of training at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex.

City still have six other pre-season friendlies on the agenda, now beginning with a home match against former Premier League side Sheffield United, taking place on Saturday, July 13 (12.30pm).

A trip to Whitby Town on Wednesday, July 17 (7pm) will be followed by a home clash with Grimsby Town on Saturday, July 20 (3pm).

York will then travel to Vanarama National League North side Darlington on Tuesday, July 23 (7.30pm), before a final confirmed pre-season friendly at home, when welcoming Notts County on Saturday, July 27 (3pm).

Adam Hinshelwood's side will wrap up their pre-season preparations with a trip back into the North East, when facing Spennymoor Town on Saturday, August 3 (3pm), just seven days before the beginning of the 2024/25 Vanarama National League season.

The fixture schedule for the pending National League season will be released on Wednesday, July 10.
