YORK Valkyrie’s Georgia Taylor has been named in the Wales squad for this weekend’s decisive World Cup qualifier against The Netherlands.
The sides will face off in Purmerend, near the capital Amsterdam, at 3pm on Saturday.
Tom Brindle’s side are one win away from qualification for their first World Cup, with Taylor on the scoresheet as they defeated an Ireland side including Valkyrie winger Bettie Lambert 28-10 in April.
Only a Dutch win by 12 points or more will deny Wales the group’s top spot. They would need to suffer a 33-point defeat to miss out on second place, which brings with it a clash against the Group B runners-up.

Leeds Rhinos star Bethan Dainton will again take the captain’s armband for Wales after her Player of the Match performance against Ireland.
Cardiff Demons’ Leanne Burnell, Lauren Aitken and Seren Gough-Walters - who played in the first-ever match in 2019 - all return after missing the Ireland clash, whilst Kathryn Salter, if selected, will be the only player to turn out in all 11 Wales fixtures to date.
Two uncapped players have been named in Brindle’s squad - Cardiff’s Megan Whittaker, and Huddersfield Giants talent Gracie Hobbs.
Taylor has featured three times for the Valkyrie both on the wing and in the forwards, and once for fellow Betfred Women’s Super League side Featherstone Rovers on loan, but has yet to score in 2024.
Wales Squad to face The Netherlands: Lauren Aitken, Leanne Burnell, Katie Carr, Shaunni Davies, Jasmine Gibbons, Seren Gough-Walters, Ffion Jenkins, Hannah Jones, Sara Jones, Rhi Parker, Amy Price, Brittony Price, Megan Whittaker (all Cardiff Demons), Bethan Dainton (Leeds Rhinos, captain), Ashlea Prescott (Featherstone Rovers), Gracie Hobbs (Huddersfield Giants), Kathryn Salter (London Broncos), Agnes Wood (Sheffield Eagles), Georgia Taylor (York Valkyrie).
