AN unnamed silent partner has purchased a 24 per cent share in York City Football Club.
The club have confirmed that a new partner has purchased a 24 per cent share in the football club, buying those shares from Julie-Anne Uggla.
The announced change reinforces investment into building towards a stronger club, with the new member of the ownership group being fully disclosed to the York City Supporters' Trust board.
This news means that the Uggla's continue to uphold their majority ownership in the football club, now at 51 per cent, whilst the York City Supporters' Trust owns 25 per cent of the club, and the new partner the remaining 24 per cent.
After undergoing the scrutiny process and detailing the Trust's special rights, which can be found here, the new minority silent owner has been approved.
Matt and Julie-Anne Uggla had obtained a larger 75 per cent shareholding in the football club in November after the move was approved by the Supporters' Trust, which they have since sold to the new silent partner.
In a club statement, the club said: "York City Football Club can now announce that a new strategic partner has joined as a minority owner, purchasing 24% of YCFC shares from Julie-Anne Uggla.
"Accordingly, the ownership of YCFC is now Matt & Julie-Anne Uggla (394 Sports) 51%, York City Supporters’ Trust 25%, new partner 24%.
"This change reinforces investment into building toward a stronger YCFC.
"This new member of the ownership group has been fully disclosed to the York City Supporters’ Trust board and will operate as a silent partner.
"Further details of the Trust’s scrutiny process and the continuation of the Trust’s special rights can be found on the Trust website."
