WILL SMITH has found himself a new club upon the expiry of his loan deal with York City.
Centre-half Smith spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with York in the Vanarama National League, becoming an integral member of the first-team squad under both Neal Ardley and then Adam Hinshelwood.
Smith made the move to City in late-September from neighbours Harrogate Town, where he would go on to make 27 league appearances for the Minstermen, bagging one goal in a 3-1 defeat to AFC Fylde in March.
The 25-year-old also notched two assists whilst featuring under Ardley, setting up goals in a 1-1 draw versus Oldham Athletic, and in a 1-1 draw against Boreham Wood.
Injuries did hamper Smith's progress with City, but his return to Harrogate upon the completion of his loan spell saw the defender part ways with Town as a free agent.
However, Smith will be remaining in the National League for next season, and in Yorkshire, after agreeing to join FC Halifax Town.
The Shaymen have lost eight of their first-team players following the 2023/24 season, with centre-backs Tom Wilson, Jamie Stott and Jordan Keane all exiting, seeing Chris Millington's side in need of reinforcements.
Smith is no stranger to Halifax either having played the full 90 minutes in October's 1-1 draw at the LNER Community Stadium, before becoming an unused sub in the reverse fixture at the Shay Stadium.
